Research

The UKAIS Conference is the premier academic event in the Information Systems calendar within the UK, and attracts leading scholars from the UK and overseas. We provide a forum for discussing issues in IS teaching and research and lobby professional/policy bodies on behalf of our field, such as HEFCE, the UK Research Councils, UK business and Government. In addition, we organise a number of events and webinars for the IS community.

UKAIS also support members by offering Research Funding. We support research on topics of interest to the IS/IT academic and practitioner communities. Moreover, our research reports section provides coverage on topical information systems related areas.

Teaching and Learning

UKAIS aims “to improve the practice of information systems teaching and research”. We seek to do this through developing our member community an offering regular events and webinars to share practice, a teaching cases section on the website and an annual award for teaching innovation. The above underpin our efforts to to lead change, monitor impact, and contribute to a research base for teaching in the discipline. Activity in this area aims to develop a community of IS educators who can share experience and contribute to the discourse on IS curricula, pedagogies and teaching practice.

Capacity Building

Our capability building benefits revolve around three key areas as listed below.

Doctoral Consortium: The UKAIS Doctoral Consortium is a great opportunity for researchers undertaking an IS-related PhD or Professional Doctorate to gain input and feedback from senior IS researchers and peers.

Mentoring: Our community recognises the importance of supporting and nurturing the next generation of IS researchers to enable them to develop professionally and personally. The mentoring scheme aims to underpin our commitment.

Engagement and Impact: In addition to running events with regards to engagement and impact, UKAIS run a number of social media accounts that aim to facilitate and disseminate relevant news of interest as well as amplifying members posts.
