The consortium provides:
- Small group, in-depth discussions, which focus on participants’ research issues, around both the object and method of the research;
- Understanding of work in progress by researchers active at PhD level in other universities;
- Identification of and learning from other research related to the participant’s interests.
- Consortium attendees are also entitled to a discounted fee for attending the main UKAIS conference.

Social Media for Academics – The session will offer useful insights and practical advice related to the use of social media for academic work. These will be contextualised by the presenters by using real life examples and sharing their experiences of using social media for different purposes. The session’s learning objective will revolve around answering the following questions:
- What are social media and why are they useful tools for academics?
- What is good practice related to research, teaching and engagement?
- How can academics make effective use of their resources when it comes to managing their social media presence?
- How can good practice be adapted to an individual’s own circumstances?
Preliminary Consortium Programme
- Keynote speakers
- Groups of 4-5 students, facilitated by leading IS academics and UKAIS Board members
- Each student presents to their group for about 15 minutes, followed by discussion of 45 minutes for each presentation. You are required to actively participate for the full day.
Submissions & Fees
The cost of attending the doctoral symposium is 100 GBP and includes attendance to the main UKAIS Conference.
We invite PhD and professional doctorate students to submit a 500 – 1,000 word abstract summarising the aims, methods and relevancy of the research topic. To submit a paper please refer to the submission instructions.
