Prof Polyxeni Vassilakopoulou, University of Agder, Norway

Polyxeni Vassilakopoulou is a Professor in the Information Systems Department at the University of Agder and Leader of the PhD specialisation on Information Systems Research. She heads the University of Agder Research Group on Human-Centered AI which focuses on AI-enabled systems that meet human needs while preserving human control. She also serves at the European Commission’s Expert Group on the European Financial Data Space which provides advice for the preparation of legislative proposals and policy initiatives related to data sharing in the financial sector. Before joining academia she worked in the consulting industry for more than a decade. She has published over 100 articles in international journals and conferences including European Journal of Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Information and Organization, Journal of Computer Supported Cooperative Work, the International Conference in Information Systems and the European Conference in Information Systems.

Prof CarterAlliance Manchester Business School, United Kingdom

Michelle Carter is a Professor of Information Systems and Director of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion at the Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. She earned her PhD in Management (Information Systems) from Clemson University, USA. Her research explores the complex relationships between IT usage behaviors, information systems management, and identity and social change. Her work has been published in leading journals like MIS Quarterly, the European Journal of Information Systems, and the Journal of the Association for Information Systems. Formerly an associate editor at MIS Quarterly, Michelle has recently been appointed as the journal’s Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). She also serves as the co-Editor-in-Chief of AIS Transactions on Replication Research and has been on the editorial boards of the European Journal of Information Systems, Information Systems Research, Information Technology & People, and the Journal of the Association for Information Systems. Michelle is a Distinguished Member – Cum Laude of AIS and has held various leadership roles in the community, including serving on the AIS Council from 2021 to 2024.

Prof Edgar Whitley, London School of Economics and Political Science, United Kingdom

Edgar Whitley is a Professor of Information Systems at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), the co-editor of Information Technology and People, and Senior Editor for the Journal of Information Technology and a member of the editorial advisory board for Information Systems Research. Edgar’s expertise lies in digital identity and privacy and data governance. He is a senior voice on the legal and ethical side of data governance and the regulation of data, having served as research co-chair for the European Conference on Information Systems in 1993, 2009 and 2021, and track co-chair for the International Conference on Information Systems in 2003 and 2011.  He is a member of various advisory boards for government and is a member of the Colleges of Experts for the UK Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and the UK Department of Media, Culture and Sport (DCMS). Edgar has also advised governments in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, India, Jamaica, Japan and Mexico about the political, technological and social challenges of effective identity policies. He has contributed to reports for the World Bank, Omidyar Network and Centre for Global Development.  He is a frequent media commentator on digital issues. Edgar was the research coordinator of the influential LSE Identity Project on the UK’s proposals to introduce biometric identity cards; proposals that were scrapped following the 2010 General Election.  His second REF impact case study involved supporting consumers through changes to the regulation of Open Banking.
